Climb FAQs

When you visit our facility, we run you through a briefing to show you how to safely belay and manage the ropes!

You will require a climbing harness and we also recommend climbing shoes and chalk, however these are not mandatory. You can bring your own harness, shoes and chalk or you can hire them all here at Urban Xtreme for a small additional fee.

We offer both top rope and lead routes, as well as auto belays and speed climbing.

Lead climbing is an advanced form of climbing in which the climber ascends the wall and clips their rope through the quickdraws as they go. In order to lead climb, a climber must bring their own gear and rope, and must pass our lead test offered weekdays at 7pm. We also offer Lead Climbing courses to teach you all the skills you need to know.

There are no age limits, however in order to use our autobelays you must weigh a minimum of 15kg and no more than 120kg. Climbers who do not correctly fit into a harness safely may be restricted.

We charge a $5 first timers fee (or $12 for groups of 3-6) the first time you Climb at Urban Xtreme, which covers an initial safety briefing. Your safety is our top priority and this briefing is mandatory for everyone’s first climb at Urban Xtreme, even if you are an experienced climber.

Climbing shoes are not compulsory however highly recommended. Climb, gym and non-black sole shoes only.
