When you visit our facility, we run you through a briefing to show you how to safely belay and manage the ropes!
All of our climbing staff have extensive experience and are more than willing to teach you about safely climbing our Rock Walls. Upon your first visit, our team will run through our safety procedures and the ways to get the most out of your time here!
You will require a climbing harness and we also recommend climbing shoes and chalk, however these are not mandatory. You can bring your own harness, shoes and chalk or you can hire them all here at Urban Xtreme for a small additional fee.
A belayer is required for any participants using the Top Ropes here at UX. A belayer must be 13 years and over, and must do a safety briefing with our crew before beginning! 😊
We are fortunate enough to have 6 amazing auto belays here at UX! Children using these auto-belays do not need a belayer, however, if moving to a top rope route they will.
We offer both top rope and lead routes, as well as auto belays and speed climbing.
Lead climbing is an advanced form of climbing in which the climber ascends the wall and clips their rope through the quickdraws as they go. In order to lead climb, a climber must bring their own gear and rope, and must pass our lead test offered: Wednesday- Friday at 7pm. We also offer Lead Climbing courses to teach you all the skills you need to know. Lead climbers must bring their own rope and aged 13 years or over.
There are no age limits for top rope and auto belays, however in order to use our autobelays you must weigh a minimum of 15kg and no more than 120kg. Climbers who do not correctly fit into a harness safely may be restricted.
Lead climbers must be aged 13 years or over.
